WHAT'S IN THE REPORT ?
OUR KEY AREAS OF FOCUS
AN INSPIRING NEW IDENTITY
Social care as a ‘brand’ is broken and misunderstood. If we want people to truly value our sector then we need to value the brand and give it the modern standout it deserves.
POWER TO THE PEOPLE
People are at the heart of social care. We must strengthen independent support to allow people to successfully navigate the social care maze.
RESPECTED PROFESSIONALS
In modern social care staff are expected to be counsellors; enablers; mentors; teachers and befrienders. Our sector is defined by our staff - so maybe it’s time we acknowledged them properly?
PROGRESSIVE PRINCIPLES
1) Social care should focus on quality
of life and aspirational outcomes
2) People should lead their own journey
3) Services should build on strengths
4) Relationships are key
5) Social care should be progressive
6) Self-sufficiency should be promoted.
RADICAL SECTOR REFORM
The social care system should be structured to ensure progressive processes, people and principles are at its’ heart.
DIGITAL INNOVATION
Providers must be supported to create the best, most creative, most innovative models of care and support and use ground-breaking technology to support with that.
A PLACE TO CALL HOME
There is a definitive link between poor housing and poor wellbeing. Great care can’t support great outcomes in sub standard accommodation.
SUPPORTIVE REGULATION
An efficient regulatory regime should inspect effectively, focus on outcomes and be fair, positive and balanced.
A NET ZERO CARE SECTOR
The care sector urgently needs a pathway to net zero.
